The Exchange Visitor Program - Student category is the original BridgeUSA cultural exchange pathway — and the program that first put HRI on the map. It's built for full-time Filipino college and university students who want to spend their long school break immersed in everyday American life, matched with a seasonal U.S. host site that fits your interests and background.
Beyond the placement itself, participants get a genuine cross-cultural exchange: sharing Filipino traditions with American colleagues and guests, building conversational English fluency, and forming friendships with students from dozens of other countries doing the same program at the same time.
Because the U.S. Department of State treats this strictly as a cultural exchange, extensions beyond your authorized four months aren't permitted. HRI helps you plan your season — and any travel afterward — around that fixed window from the very start.
What HRI generally looks for.
Every case is reviewed individually with an HRI Account Coordinator — this is a starting guide, not a guarantee.
- Currently enrolled full-time at a post-secondary school outside the U.S.
- Generally between 18 and 28 years old
- Comfortable with at least an intermediate level of conversational English
- Available for the full length of your school's long academic break
- Open to entry-level placements in hospitality, retail, or seasonal settings
- Ready to budget for your first month before your first stipend arrives
