Inside the Trainee USA experience.
Trainee USA is built for participants who already have some hands-on background in their field — either a related degree plus at least a year of relevant experience, or several years of experience without a formal degree. It's a longer runway than Internship USA, running up to eighteen months, meant to deepen a real specialized skill rather than introduce someone to a field for the first time.
Many of HRI's Trainee Program sit inside hospitality and tourism — hotels, resorts, and food & beverage host organizations across the U.S. — though the category also covers other specialized occupational fields. Each placement follows a structured training plan with clear goals, supervision, and evaluation, so the months you spend abroad translate into real, documented growth.
As with every BridgeUSA category, this is cultural exchange first: you're expected to share Filipino perspectives with your host organization and community, and to bring what you've learned back home at the end of your program.
What HRI generally looks for.

Common questions about Trainee USA.
Up to eighteen months, depending on your field and host organization — some specialized fields carry a shorter cap, which your account coordinator will confirm with you.
Not necessarily — a related degree plus a year of experience qualifies you, but so does five years of full-time experience in your field without one.
It's where most of HRI's current host relationships sit, but the Trainee category covers a range of specialized occupational fields. Ask your account coordinator about your specific background.
Program fees vary by placement length and field and are shared during your consultation, in addition to your visa application, SEVIS fee, and flight.
